2026 Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF) International Seminar, Tokyo, Japan (27 March - 29 March)
Join fellow SKI Australia karate-ka and from the SKIF world for top class international training led by Kancho Nobuaki Kanazawa (SKIF Head of Federation) and Shuseki Shihan Manabu Murakami (SKIF Chief Instructor) and supported by Honbu Dojo Instructors and Karate Masters from around the world.
The stated objective of SKIF in hosting this seminar is: "To improve and unify the techniques of SKIF members in Japan and overseas while providing the opportunity for members to interact and build friendships."

AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION DINNER - The Australian delegation will have our traditional dinner in Kamata on Friday 27 March. Details to be provided once we confirm attendee numbers and make a booking.
JOINT TRAINING WITH OTA CITY RESIDENTS - Although this seminar is being organised by SKIF, Ota City, Ota City Board of Education, and Ota City Karate Federation once again provide support in, among other things, securing the seminar venue. That is why SKIF also organises a free training session on Saturday 28 March together with karate practitioners residing in Ota City. SKIF encourages all members taking part in the seminar to also participate in this joint training session. Any friends and family karate-ka travelling to Tokyo who are not eligible to train at the seminar can bring their do gi and take the opportunity to train in this session.
REFEREES CLINIC - Referees Clinic will be held on both Saturday and Sunday in this all important World Championship Year. No experience necessary but general understanding of the rules and familiarity with gestures will be of assistance. OFFICIAL EVENING BANQUET - Official dinner function for all participants on Saturday 28 March to be held at the Omori Sports Center; and
CHERRY BLOSSOM VIEWING PARTY (HANAMI) - Monday 30 March 11:00-13:00 (this event will be cancelled in the event of rain).
Location is along the bank of the Tama River (approximately a 10-minute walk from Unoki Station). Participants should meet at 10:30 in front of Unoki Station on the Tokyu-Tamagawa Line. Cherry blossoms bloom in early April in Tokyo. If you take part in this event, you will experience a relaxing time under the cherry blossoms while enjoying drinks, snacks and conversation with your karate friends.

Please note this event is for worldwide members of the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation and this event registration is for Australian members of Shotokan Karate International Australia only. Participants in the training sessions must be 12 years or older and minimum 3rd kyu (brown belt). Family and friends are most welcome to join in the social events and activities with registration (as applicable).

Registration for the event is created and managed by Shotokan Karate International Australia Incorporated (SKIA) for Australian members. Please ensure your SKIA membership is up to date to be able to register for this event.
The event is hosted by the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation (SKIF) with support from Ota City, Tokyo / Ota City Board of Education / Ota City Karate Federation,
Cancellations after booking will be subject to a $15 administraiton fee up to 20 March 2026. No refunds after 20 March.
Insurance: Participants should ensure they have appropriate and adequate insurances for their travel and all activities including seminar participation.
Venue: The venue where the seminar will be held is located within walking distance (approximately 6 minutes) from Heiwajima station on the Keihin Kyuko Main Line (Keikyu Honsen). Accordingly, participants may want to consider lodging near Shinagawa* station, in the vicinity of Kamata station (both offer easy access to the seminar venue), or somewhere in between.
* Shinagawa is the largest district in the southwestern region of Tokyo and offers a large selection of city and business hotels.
Distances between various train stations:
Heiwajima Station from Shinagawa Station: approximately 10 minutes by train
Heiwajima Station from Keikyu Kamata Station: approximately 5 minutes by train
Although JR Shinagawa Station and Keikyu Shinagawa Station are located directly next to each other, it takes about 10 minutes to walk from JR Kamata Station to Keikyu Kamata Station.
SKIF GHQ is located at Kugahara station (about a 1-minute walk from the station) on the Tokyu Ikegami line, approximately 7 minutes by train from Kamata station.
